While government Covid restrictions have been lifted we want everyone to feel confident of their safety on site and be able to relax and enjoy the festival to the full.
So in line with the advice and guidance from UK and local Government we ask that all adult guests bring with them either:
a. Proof of double-vaccination. This is easily achieved with an NHS Covid Pass on the NHS App. For details on how to obtain this see Covid Pass below. Or,
b. Proof of a negative NHS Lateral Flow test within 48 hours of attending the festival. Or,
c. Proof of natural immunity, based on a positjve PCR test within 180 days of the festival (but no later than 14 days before the festival).
Please note: If you are feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms associated with Coronavirus (Covid-19) you will not be permitted entry to the event.
If you are resident in England, the easiest way to identify your Covid status is with a Covid Pass. The NHS Covid Pass is found on the NHS App. Full details can be found on the gov.uk website here. When downloading the app onto your phone make sure to use the NHS App and not the NHS Covid-19 track and Trace App.
Please take a screenshot of your status in case there are any issues with the Covid Pass loading on your arrival at the HowTheLightGetsIn festival. Or you can print a copy.
If you don't have a mobile phone or computer you can call 119 to request a letter to demonstrate your vaccination status.
Lateral Flow Test
Lateral flow tests are free from the NHS and can be ordered to be delivered to your home address or be picked up from an eligible location listed on the Gov website. Order yours here.
NHS Covid Passes generated from a negative Lateral Flow Test expire after 48 hours. If you are planning to attend on Saturday and Sunday best therefore to take the test on Friday afternoon/evening. Your test result can take up to 2 hours to appear in the Covid App, so it is worth logging your test the night before you arrive at the event.
No personal data relating to your Covid Status will be held or retained.
Please note that this only applies to festival attendees aged 18 and over; those under the age of 18 will be asked for verbal confirmation (by them or by a parent or guardian on their behalf) that they have not received a positive test for COVID-19 within the last 14 days and are not displaying symptoms of COVID-19.
We want you to enjoy the festival in confidence, knowing we have your safety as our highest priority. In additon to requesting all adults to show proof of their Covid status on arrival, you can also expect:
- Improved crowd management, changes to the site layout and additional toilets to prevent build-up/large queues.
- Venues to be fully ventilated
- Dedicated areas in each venue available to those who wish to be socially distanced.
- Cashless transactions.
- Hand sanitiser and/or hand washing facilities available at various points on the festival site.
- All festival staff to have undertaken COVID-19 safety training.
We will continue to monitor and follow Government regulations and guidance and update this page, so please check back regularly..
We look forward to welcoming you back to HowTheLightGetsIn London 2021!
Absolutely! Once you're inside HowTheLightGetsIn will feel the same as normal, and we've worked extra hard this year to bring you the best festival yet.
No. If you have received both doses of the vaccine 14 days ahead of your first day at HowTheLightGetsIn you will not need to take a lateral flow test. If you are aged 18 or over and are registered with a GP in England you can provide proof of your vaccination status through the NHS Covid Pass in the NHS App , or via a printed PDF document if you do not have a smartphone.
All other ticket holders, including those from Northern Ireland will be required to show a negative NHS Lateral Flow Test taken within 48hrs of attending the event in order to gain entry via NHS text message or email.
You can either:
If you do not own a smartphone or computer you can still log a negative lateral flow test result by calling the phone number in your test kit’s instructions. After registering you will receive a text message confirming your negative test result from NHS that you can provide upon entry to the festival.
If you are fully vaccinated you can request an NHS Covid Pass Letter via the NHS Website. The letter may take up to 5 working days to reach you, so ensure you order in good time before attending the Festival.
Please take your lateral flow test at home within 48 hours of arriving at the event. There will be no facilities on site for you to take your lateral flow test.
The NHS COVID-19 App is required for checking into venues and for test and trace.
The NHS App will host your NHS COVIS PASS for the event. The app can be found here.
They are two separate apps.
The NHS COVID-19 App will not be required for HowTheLightGetsIn London 2021.
If you are having problems with the NHS App or website we recommend you contact the NHS app team directly here.
